After all the craziness that was going down with Facebook a week or so ago, I decided to step away. Not because I was frustrated with the new concept (though I was a little) but because I wanted to see if I could walk away from it for a week and not be impacted. Just a small experiment for myself.
Truth be told, I don’t think I missed much as far as the user experience goes. I continued to use Twitter and G+, but let’s be honest here: neither really matter (yet) when it comes to social networks. As much as I’d love for G+ to take the world by storm and become the newest and greatest thing as most things Google do, it just hasn’t. Twitter is too compact. Facebook really has taken the best of both worlds and run with it.
For those that prefer “Circles” on G+ haven’t spent enough time with Facebook’s Lists. They’re really the same thing. You can even post just to a specific list instead of all of Facebook.
G+’s approach is a bit cleaner and less obtrusive. Facebook already has most of my friends/family.
Bottom line: If I moved away from Facebook, I’d miss a lot of what’s going on. So, I’m staying.
